Chivas Brothers operates 13 Scotch malt distilleries, nearly all of them located in Speyside. The Distillery Reserve Collection features rare and exceptional single malts from these distilleries. Aberlour 16 Years Old Distillery Reserve Collection 2005 Cask #225887 is a single cask release, drawn from a second-fill sherry butt filled in 2005. The whisky matured for over 16 years, and was bottled in March 2022 at a natural cask strength of 66.5%. It is a warming and powerful dram with aromas of dark cherries and blueberries, followed by soft caramel, cinnamon and freshly baked gingerbread. On the palate, notes of roasted chestnuts and candied walnuts are complemented by orange zest, cinnamon and a hint of liquorice, leading to a long and slightly dry finish with gentle warming spice.
