Selected for La Maison du Whisky’s Itinéraires collection, this The Hearach 6 Years Old Peated 2018 captures the untamed character of Harris in a youthful, maritime single malt. Distilled from barley peated to 43ppm before distillation and matured entirely on the island, it reveals a beautifully layered profile where coastal smoke, citrus brightness and herbaceous depth move in quiet harmony. This limited release offers a vivid early glimpse of the emerging Harris house style through a confidently peated lens. Founded in 2015 in the village of Tarbert, the Isle of Harris Distillery was created with a long-term vision for whisky. The Hearach is the distillery’s inaugural single malt, crafted from Scottish Concerto and Laureate barley and distilled in Frilli-made copper pot stills. Although the distillery is also acclaimed for its Isle of Harris Gin, the whisky project sits at its core: shaped by Atlantic maturation, Hebridean terroir and a community-rooted ethos, The Hearach reflects the rugged landscape of machair dunes, peat bogs and wild coastal winds.
